Renowned developer Peter Nyaga is fulfilled after a student he sponsored through high school aced in the just-released 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.

Four years ago, the student, Mike Mati Ngugi, was on the verge of missing his slot at the prestigious Meru School because of a lack of school fees.

Mati's father, Albert Mati, had managed to secure KSh 5,000 from friends and KSh 15,000 from their area MP, totalling KSh 20,000. The senior Mati implored well-wishers to come to his rescue.

The predicament of Mati, who scored 417 marks in the 2019 KCPE, caught the attention of Nyaga, who took him into his fold and sponsored his learning at the institution for four years.

In the KCSE results announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, January 8, Nyaga, the Certified Homes Managing Director, announced Mati had managed grade A- (minus).

He scored a B+ in English, an A in Kiswahili, a B+ in mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry, a B in geography and an A in computer studies.

What next for students who scored E in KCSE?

While releasing the 2023 KCSE exam results, Machogu disclosed that 48,174 out of the 899,453 who sat for their examination scored grade E.

Of those who scored E, 19,960 were female, and 28,214 were male.

Afterwards, Nyaga took to social media to encourage the candidates who bagged grade E.

"Failure is failing to try. Give it another shot. My advice to these candidates is that all is not lost, there are so many options available for you, and the world is full of opportunities. Don’t be defined by what you scored," part of his post read

The established entrepreneur and philanthropist added:

"In the world we live in today, the E students employ the A students".

The businessman encouraged the candidates to take a technical course and venture into business.
