The Akothee Academy, founded by award-winning singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth alias Akothee, is officially open.
Where is Akothee Academy?
The multi-million facility in Rongo, Migori county, was launched on Wednesday, December 11, 2023, at an event presided over by Ida Odinga.
Other leaders who graced the auspicious occasion included Migori county First Lady Agnes Ochillo, her Kisumu counterpart Dorothy Nyongo, lawyer Silas Jakakimba and Akothee's parents, Josy and Yunita Kokeyo.

The launch also doubled up as the celebration of her graduation with a degree in Business Management from Mount Kenya University (MKU).
Videos shared by the beloved personality had her dancing heartily with her parents and other chauffeured guests at an undisclosed exclusive residence.
The academy's construction started in earnest in October 2022 and was officially registered under the Ministry of Education a year later, in October 2023.
Celebrating the milestone, Akothee highlighted the transformative power of education and praised the county director of education, Jacob Oyiego.
"Today is the day I have felt the greatest impact of positivity in my life. Akothee Academy is now fully registered under the Ministry of Education. Let me thank the county director of education, Jacob Oyiego, and his team. For his massive support,” said Akothee.
Opening up about why she was starting the academy, Akothee said her dream through the institution is to give every child an opportunity for education.
Akothee added that she aims to empower and support her community through the initiative.
“Akothee Academy has been on my bucket list since I dropped out of school and saw how useless I was when I could not afford school fees for my children. I would love to offer this opportunity to my community and the nation at large to support and empower my community," said Akothee.
In a self-lauding post after graduating, Akothee explained that the triumph was 14 years in the making.
She also shared how she gave back to the community.
“I adopted 30 pupils from vulnerable families under Akothee Foundation sponsorship programs. I have given the mothers a chance to work and earn their daily bread as they watch over their children.”
How did Akothee lose money?
In other news, Akothee said a "huge" sum of money was withdrawn from her bank account.
Via her Facebook account, the mother of five disclosed that someone unknown to her had accessed her bank account and withdrawn cash via an ATM.
Madam Boss, without mentioning the financial institution in question, wondered how someone could make such a huge withdrawal without her and the bank noticing.
