Akothee Gives Brief Tour Of Her Classy Academy In Migori: "Interviews Ongoing"

• Akothee could dropped out of school and could not afford to pay fees for her children, but she was determined to be successful
• The circumstances inspired her to return to school and graduate before launching the Akothee Academy
• The philanthropist gave a tour of the institution that sponsors 30 needy students and employs their mothers

Celebrated Kenyan musician, philanthropist and entrepreneur Akothee has given a brief tour of her eponymous school.

Inside Akothee Academy

The Akothee Academy in Migori county features kindergarten classes, with plans to expand the school to cater to junior secondary students.

A video posted to Akothee's Instagram stories showed her walking around the white structure with a maroon roof.

The neat building featured a veranda and a ballast strip separating it from the lawn. The school sits on a sizeable piece of land with a lush green field for students to play.

Akothee looked at the different classes while asking the employees questions.

Construction workers were seen putting finishing touches on some sections of the building.

According to Akothee Academy’s official social media page, the institution:

“Aims to provide quality education in Kenya, offering students a range of academic programs. Besides academics, Akothee Academy often emphasises character development and values, contributing to the holistic growth of its students.”

How many students does Akothee Academy sponsor?

The multi-million facility in Rongo launched on Wednesday, December 11, 2023, at an event presided over by Ida Odinga.

The launch also doubled up as the celebration of her graduation with a degree in Business Management from Mount Kenya University (MKU).

Opening up about why she was starting the academy, Akothee said she aims to empower and support her community through the initiative.

“Akothee Academy has been on my bucket list since I dropped out of school and saw how useless I was when I could not afford school fees for my children. I would love to offer this opportunity to my community and the nation at large to support and empower my community," said Akothee.

She also shared how she gave back to the community.

“I adopted 30 pupils from vulnerable families under Akothee Foundation sponsorship programs. I have given the mothers a chance to work and earn their daily bread as they watch over their children.”
