Nairobi - Vocal lawyer Donald Kipkorir has weighed into the brawling row between Mt. Kenya governors and Transport and Energy Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen and Davis Chirchir.

Mutahi Kahiga calls for Davis Chirchir's sacking

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and his Tharaka Nithi counterpart Muthomi Njuki asked President William Ruto to sack Energy Cabinet Secretary Chirchir over frequent power outages.

They also asked the head of state to deal with Transport CS Murkomen squarely over the lack of power backup at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), leading to three power outages in a few months.

"Recently, I came from abroad and found a power outage. Such a cabinet secretary should be sacked early in the morning. Our president works day and night and is up early trying to make things work, but some people are sleeping on the job.
"They are slacking and watching power outages occur with backup generators not working. Let me say this in broad daylight: if they cannot work, Kenya has over 50 million Kenyans. No one should blackmail our president. If someone cannot work, let them be sacked," Mutahi said.

Mutahi Kahiga retracts sacking sentiments against Davis Chirchir

Shortly after making the statement, Mutahi was quick to clarify that he did not call for Chirchir's sacking and instead insinuated that he meant Murkomen to be sacked.

Kipkorir did not hesitate to question why Mutahi wanted a transport CS to be sacked over a power blackout, not a CS in charge of energy, where electricity distribution falls.

"I didn't know Kikuyu men from Nyeri were cowards. On the nationwide power blackout, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga asked the president to sack the Minister for Energy, Davis Chirchir. After being told my friend Chirchir is a powerful minister, he retraced his steps and said he meant the Minister for Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen.
"Is Gov. Kahiga saying he fears Davis Chirchir but not Kipchumba Murkomen? Bwana Murkomen, how can someone say he fears another man but not you? Don’t let our county down. Show Gov. Kahiga things!" Kipkorir posted on X.

The recent series of nationwide blackouts has put Ruto's administration on the spot and tainted the preparedness of JKIA in case of power outages.
