Another two people succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the same medical facility.

This is the latest attack after almost a month of relative peace and tranquillity in the area in Northern Kenya.

Kenya's war on terror

On Monday, February 6, security officers neutralised one and captured another al-Shabaab militant.

The suspect donning a military outfit was caught emplacing IEDs along the Sedahgose-Amuma road in Fafi in the company of two others.

One more terrorist escaped with injuries while one IED, 1 AK-47 rifle and assorted materials were recovered.

Speaking to the press at Harambee House in Nairobi, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said the government is aware of the terrorists' plans against the country.

"We are always aware that terrorists only need one lucky break to hurt our country and inflict us with pain. We, therefore, always ensure that we strike fast and first to neutralise them and obliterate their nefarious networks," said Kindiki.

Why Kenyans wanted Aden Duale to resign

TUKO.co.ke previously reported that a viral clip of al-Shabaab militia men maiming and killing Lamu civilians had been the subject of debate on social media.

Deriving their frustration from the horrific clip, concerned Kenyans started heaping resignation pressure on Aden Duale, the Cabinet Secretary for Defence.

The militants were seen opening fire on helpless men as the cameras followed them.

It was, however, clarified that the clip was supposedly published by the agents of the Somalia-based terror group, perhaps to scare.

Counter Terrorism and Security Intelligence agency authoritatively reported that the clip was originally filmed in 2022 when the foes unleashed terror at the Kwa Omollo Bridge Construction near the LAPSSET Project.

The agency stated that the clip was shot on March 11, 2022, and was kept to peddle propaganda in the future.
