He indicated that medical complications led to the miscarriages, a challenge they had to endure as they hoped for better days.
Recalling those trying times, the proud father expressed the profound impact of their parental struggles on their lives.
"It was horrible. I remember we used to avoid touching other kids from our family. We had developed a phobia," he shared.
Dan's happiest day
The couple's perseverance, however, paid off when they welcomed their firstborn in 2019, followed by their second child in 2021.
They found strength and support in the medical professionals at Nairobi Hospital and Mater Hospital, who played a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of their premature babies.
Given their history and struggles, Dan says he was so overwhelmed by the birth of his first child that he celebrated the entire night.
"I spent that night drinking alcohol. It was my happiest day ever. Though I have since stopped drinking," he said.
Valuable lessons learned
Dan says the long wait taught him that the best things pass through the hottest furnace, but they eventually come to pass.
Having experienced the struggles firsthand, the lovebirds have a message of hope and encouragement for others going through a similar waiting period:
"Trust God. Be prayerful. He is the only answer to all our problems. God alone is in charge of who can conceive, when, and how they can conceive."
Dan says that their patience was tested, but they came out strong, and when he looks at his kids, a wave of emotions floods him.
Couple waits 10 years for baby
In an almost similar story, a young man and his wife were filled with joy as they finally became parents after waiting for 10 years.
Photos posted on Facebook showed how the man was painted with white powder to celebrate the new baby.
Congratulatory messages trailed the photos, with many people saying it was the man's time to celebrate.
