He says he would be open to another relationship after a four-month break.

Rono was offered a four-day trip to Mombasa by tour company Bonfire Adventures.

He also met with Kericho governor Eric Mutai, with whom he had a "man-to-man" talk.

2. Daily Nation

The daily reported on the performance of the CSs in the Kenya Kwanza regime.

A report of the findings from a survey by Tifa Research ranked Interior's Kithure Kindiki as the best-performing CS.

Others trailing the Interior CS in the top five spots were Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, who also heads the Foreign Affairs docket with 62%, Education's Ezekiel Machogu with 58%, Kipchumba Murkomen of Roads (57%) and Susan Nakhumicha of Health (57%).

The main parameters for the survey to arrive at the best performers were if they are known by Kenyans, trust, visibility, commitment, issues resolution and transparency.

The bottom five, as per Tifa Research, were Alice Wahome of Lands and Housing (24%), Zacharia Njeru of Water and Sanitation (24%), The National Treasury's Njuguna Ndung'u (24%), Gender's Aisha Jumwa (23%) and Davis Chirchir of Energy and Petroleum (19%).

The survey further highlighted the concerns borne by Kenyans about Ruto's administration, including inflation and cost of living, corruption, debt repayment, opposition pressure, and the declining value of the local currency.

"Given the fact that reducing the cost-of-living was such a major part of Kenya Kwanza’s successful 2022 election campaign, its continued rise helps to explain why more Kenyans cited it as the main challenge the Government currently faces (39%)," read an excerpt of the findings.

3. The Standard

The publication reported on the president's intervention to combat routine nationwide power blackouts.

President William Ruto, who chaired a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, December 13, expressed his displeasure with the outages, which he said were hurting Kenya’s investment profile.

The matter was deliberated on during the meeting, after which it was resolved that the transmission line system would be unbundled to reduce the impact of failures of select parts on the whole country.

The Cabinet resolved that the Bomet-Narok line would be built with €400 million, equivalent to KSh 66 billion; the aforementioned would be funded by the African Development Bank.

The line, funded in 2016, had not been built due to legal disputes.

Additionally, €1.2 billion, equivalent to KSh 200 billion, would be channelled to the KenGen solar power project at the Seven Forks Dam to bolster electricity supply far from the national power utility firm.

4. People Daily

The publication spared space for tragic development in Thika, where a trio of women was found dead at the home.

Thika Town police boss Andrew Sora said the decomposing bodies of the women were found in Maguguni village, Ngoliba ward.

Sora said police immediately embarked on pursuing crucial leads to arrest one of the suspects believed to have been behind the brutal murder of the three family members.

“This may have happened about two to three days before as the bodies are already decomposing. We have begun our investigations and are optimistic that we will have the suspects arrested for prosecution. It’s very unfortunate,” said the police officer.

The three bodies were identified as Peninah Wairimu Ngugi, 87, her 50-year-old daughter Pauline Njeri, and their house help.

The bodies of Wairimu and her daughter were found in a pool of blood inside their newly built house, while the third body was found buried in a shallow grave a few metres from the house.

Police suspect the victims might have been killed on the night of Friday, December 8, by unknown people since the bodies were already decomposing.

Two bloody knives suspected to have been used to stab the three were found outside the house.

Kahoro Mbogo, a neighbour, said the three had been missing since Saturday last week after they failed to collect milk from his farm as a norm.
