Bungoma Man Builds New House For Widowed Mother With Salary From Security Guard Job

Lucas James graduated in 2017 with a degree in Procurement and Logistics but struggled to find a job aligned with his career.

Having come from a humble background, he figured he needed to reexamine his priorities and find any other job that would put food on his table.

Lucas's mother is widowed

That is how he ended up accepting a security guard job in Qatar, his eyes set on changing the fortunes of his mother.

Lucas told TUKO.co.ke that he has been living meekly and saving a bigger percentage of his salary for the project.

After one and a half years in the Gulf, he saved enough to build a new house for his widowed mother.

"My sister and I sacrificed everything to change our mother's life," he said proudly, adding that he was not in a hurry to build his.

Glat to transform mother's life

Lucas explained that it bothered them to see their mother live in the house, which had deteriorated over time.

They, therefore, took it upon themselves to give the mother a comfortable and secure home they would be proud of.

Lucas admits the task seemed insurmountable initially, but their determination and dedication fueled the dream.

"They laugh at us in security guard uniforms, but we are transforming lives in the villages," he said.

The diligent guard says the neighbours and community members who initially looked down upon them now watch with admiration.

Meru teacher built house for mother

In an almost similar story, teacher Safari Bornface Tuluba built a new house for his mother with his first salary, savings, and a few loans from friends.

With KSh 1.1 million at hand, the grateful son demolished the rundown house they grew up in and replaced it with a two-bedroom permanent house.

"The groundbreaking was done on December 31, 2021, so I can say the house took me two years to complete," he said with pride.

Safari told TUKO.co.ke that he prioritised his mother's house over his own to thank her for enduring numerous challenges to ensure he was educated.
