In a scathing Facebook post, Kameme FM presenter Muthee Kiengei criticised leaders in Laikipia County for their apparent negligence towards a four-year-old girl battling cancer.

Why was Kiengei furious?

Kiengei's outrage came in the wake of philanthropist Karangu Muraya's intervention, who travelled from Nairobi to Laikipia for fundraising.

The fundraiser was aimed at covering the medical expenses of the ailing child.

Expressing his frustration on Facebook, Kiengei, known for his spiritual leadership, set aside his usual demeanour to confront the local leadership directly.

"It is a shame Karangu Muraya is fundraising online in a county where we have a Governor, Senator, Woman Rep, MP, and an MCA. Why do we elect leaders?" he questioned.

In a tone of disappointment, Kiengei continued:

"Laikipia County, today you lead in a county of shame award. I am a spiritual leader, but why should your voters' child go through pain due to a KSh 3 million hospital bill while you watch?"

Nyambura's family unable to raise funds

Challenging the leaders to empathise with the plight of the child, he questioned,

"What if it's one of your leader's child?"

This touching query aimed to elicit a sense of responsibility from the elected representatives, who seemingly turned a blind eye to the child's suffering.

The four-year-old girl, Teresia Nyambura, was diagnosed with cancer in her left eye, and her family, residing in Kinamba, are struggling to raise the necessary funds for her treatment.

Karangu Muraya, a philanthropist with a heart for such causes, stepped in to fundraise for Nyambura's medical expenses by organising an online campaign.

In a gesture of solidarity, Muraya urged well-wishers to contribute to the cause by directing their donations to Nyambura's father, Peter Mbugua, via phone number 0714491472.

Kingei rebukes fathers who don't support kids

In a separate story, the father of three, who is successfully co-parenting with his ex-wife Keziah wa Kariuki, shared a post telling deadbeat fathers to step up and be in their kids' lives.

Kiengei opined that fathers who don't support their children are fools.

His sentiments came after actress Jackie Matubia called out deadbeat fathers.

"If she gives you access to your child or children if she allows you to speak to your child and you don't support her financially... You are not a baby daddy but a fool," he wrote.
