Kenyans Raise KSh 10k To Take Ailing Boy Called To National School For Treatment: "We Are Relieved"

Kenyans on X have come together and raised KSh 10,000 for young Benjamin Omaiyo, who is set to join a national school, but sadly, his leg has been paining him.

Omaiyo called to Kisii High School

Omaiyo shot into the limelight when the Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were released, and he got an impressive 388 out of the possible 500 marks.

At the time, TUKO.co.ke learnt that Omaiyo was in hospital as he had a painful wound on his leg from a spine problem that had been giving him a hard time, and he braved the pain to sit for his KCPE exams every day. It was, therefore, a great win for him to get 388 marks.

On December 18, Omaiyo and his family were happy to learn that he had been called to Kisii High School; an academic powerhouse and also a national school.

Despite the good news, the family that was still grappling with his treatment was sure that it would not be able to raise the fees needed for him to join the school.

Omaiyo reffered to Tenwek hospital

As the fee problem weighed them down, they were told that he was supposed to be referred to Tenwek Hospital for skin grafting to cover the painful wound on his bent ankle.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Geoffrey Moturi, who has been helping the boy financially, said that Kenyans on the X app managed to raise the money to help the boy go to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for skin grafting on the wound.

"Dr Ismail Mohamed observed the chronic wound on Benjamin's leg and commended the father for taking great care of it so well that it has not attracted any infections. He was slated for a plastic surgery on January 9, to ease tension on the club foot that makes the wound not to heal," said Moturi.

David and Benjamin thank netizens

The father, David Omaiyo, was satisfied by the Doctors opinion and he was relieved of the worry he had been carrying with him.

"As Omaiyo's dad, I would like to thank you for all you have done for us as a family. The young boy was treated and we were told to come back on January 9, for further treatment. As a family, we are hoping that this boy will one day make it in life and get us out of poverty," said David.

"I would like to thank you for supporting me throughout this tough journey and for contributing to bringing me here," he added.

According to Moturi, Benjamin Omayio was very optimistic that the chronic wound will be a thing of the past in his life after visiting MTRH.

"The boy said it has been difficult in his whole because of the pain he has endured. And he cant't wait to pursue his dream of alleviating the burden that his father has. Omaiyo noted that if it were not for abject poverty, he could have been taken to India long time ago for his treatment. Poor background has impeded him but he is determined to conquer it once he joins Kisii School," he added.

Boy called to join maranda high pleads for help to raise school fees

Elsewhere, Victor Obama, a young man from Malava in Kakamega county, was desperate to further his education and become an academic giant.

Obama got 412 marks in the 2023 KCPE exams and found placement at Maranda High School and Friends School Kamusinga, both well-known for good performance.

TUKO.co.ke learnt that while his dreams are valid, Obama risked missing out on his place at the school of his choice because of lack of fees.
