Would you eat a snail even if it is cooked thoroughly?
Where did Madowo eat snails?
This is the question most Kenyans have been asking since CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo ate boiled snails (babbouche) in Morocco.
The scribe was on assignment in Rabat when he spotted a vendor with a huge traditional pot selling boiled snails. The snails are extremely popular with locals and tourists.

Madowo decided to try it out and joined a crowd of customers who were also itching for a bite.
In a video widely shared online, the Madowo can be seen making an order and getting a toothpick to pluck the snail out of its white-and-brown shell.
Madowo then plops a single steamy snail into his mouth, chews and satisfyingly swallows.
"I ate snails in Morocco. They were tastier than I expected!" Larry Madowo captioned the video.
In a separate post, Madowo gave the beloved delicacy a thumbs up and encouraged his followers to consider it a must-try food.
"There’s nothing I won’t eat, and I had to jump on this. Snails are a delicacy in parts of Africa; don’t sleep on them," stated Madowo.
While many praised Madowo as an unrestrained eater, some Kenyans were apprehensive about snails, terming them stomach-churning.
"You started with rats, now snails. We will be summoning you to answer questions on attempting to create a new pandemic," responded Emmanuel Aloo.
"If the sweet part is the mucus, no thanks," shared Ruth Kaikai.
Did Madowo enjoy eating mice?
True to his word, the correspondent in 2019 caused a stir on social media after he ate roasted mice in Malawi.
Madowo, who was in the country to cover the general elections, recorded himself examining mice on sale by the roadside. The mice were neatly stacked and strung on sticks. He then cut a chunk of mice meat and chewed.
According to Madowo, the mice tasted just like chicken!
"I ate a mouse for the first time, and it was amazing! Mice (not rats!) are a delicacy in parts of Malawi. Tastes just like chicken," posted Madowo.
