According to her, guests received invitation cards that offered three options:
"I will attend the wedding - envelope fee: $65 (KSh 10,200), I will only attend the ceremony, and I will not be able to attend."
She added that as much as the invitation cards don’t state what the fee covers, she has since discovered it is for food, music, decorations, and the venue.
Despite charging their guests to attend, the couple still hopes they will come with presents for their big day.
Weddings should be free
Those payments do not include the cost of travel to and from the wedding, outfits, food or drink.
The woman explained that it is acceptable for guests to foot the accommodation costs before and after the wedding but not the actual event.
"If I'm invited to a wedding I shouldn't have to pay to attend the actual wedding?!” she remarked.
The furious woman opined that since her friend has money, she suspects some of the cash will be used to fund their house renovations.
“It's just unfortunate because we've been friends for 12 years and it's sad to only be able to attend the ceremony because I absolutely refuse to pay,” she concluded.
