"I have been in the university for eight years; I had to defer in 2018 due to fee constraints even though I had three semesters to conclude my university education. I went back to conclude my degree last year," explained the new graduand.
"I felt like spending my graduation day in a place where when I had no money, they could give me food without money. My friend works there and he would pay with the little he is paid.
Ndolo defers university education
Apart from fee constraints, Ndolo didn't have many challenges as her mother gave it her best.
"Anytime I had a problem, my mother was willing to help; she even borrowed where possible for me to get what I needed. I actually dedicate this degree to her because being left with four children, with the last born being in Class Six and now she is in university is an achievement," said Ndolo.
According to Ndolo, returning to the place he had called 'home' for a long time felt good.
"I was overjoyed and thankful because I never went a day without eating at that kibanda, and I loved how they all smiled when they saw me in a gown," Ndolo.
"Even the food I posted on the wall was bought by that friend of mine because he could not let me pay, I invited another friend we shared a meal then I paid," elaborated the the teacher.
Ndolo is now a teacher in a Laikipia school on BOM terms.
