Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has expressed delight after four of the candidates he sponsored through high school excelled in the 2023 KCSE examinations.
The lawmaker shared the outstanding performances of the candidates on his social media pages, stating that some exceeded his expectations.
"KCSE: Happy of My 4 privately sponsored students, Some Have Excelled! Congratulations Indeed!" he wrote.

How did the students perform?
The students were from Kenya High, two from St. Marys Yala, and Rang'ala Girls.
Maria Clara of Kenya High and Amollo Remmy Siver of St. Mary's Yala both achieved A- grades, while Precious Amondi of Rang'ala Girls and Joseph Oloo of St. Mary's Yala secured B- and C grades, respectively.
"Maria Clara- Kenya High A-, Remmy Siver- St Mary’s Yala, A-, Precious Amondi-Rang’ala Girls, B+, Joseph Oloo- St Mary’s Yala, C," he added.
How did 2023 KCSE candidates perform?
According to the results released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, a total of 1,216 candidates out of 895,533 scored a mean grade of A.
"There were 1,216 (0.14%) candidates who obtained an overall grade of A in the 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 1,146 (0.13%) candidates in the year 2022," Machogu said.
Among the students who achieved As, 889 hail from national schools, and an additional 172 emerged from extra-county schools.
The count of students who attained a mean grade of B+ reached 18,078, comprising 10,370 males and 7,708 females. For B plain, there were 36,728 candidates, while 59,514 scored B- and 78,343 secured C+.
"The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification (Grade C+ and above) was 201,133 (22.27%) in the 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 173,345 (19.62%) in the year 2022. This is as a result of the application of a new grading system," Machogua added.
Moreover, over 48,000 students got an E in the results.
