The new Presidential Pavilion at State House, Nairobi, has captured the attention of Kenyans.

Details of new Presidential Pavilion

The pavilion boasts symbols of the presidency and its power and is used for state receptions and meetings.

It was unveiled by President William Ruto recently when he hosted RSF leader General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, South Sudan special envoys Akol Koor Kuc and Simon Makuac Yen and Somalia Foreign Minister Ali Mohamed Omar.

The pavilion's floor is covered in a shimmering grey carpet comprising an embroidered National Coat of Arms inscription Republic of Kenya.

Several plaques of the Coat of Arms are mounted on walls in the pavilion.

Carved mahogany chairs and tables are some functional style-laden pieces that state guests enjoy at the pavilion.

The interior decor is also ornamented with brass ceremonial flagpoles and Kenya's rich heritage artworks.

Ruto's predecessors, Uhuru Kenyatta, Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Arap Moi, held meetings at the presidential room before the renovation.

Following the reveal, dazzled Kenyans took to social media to applaud the facelift as fitting.

Tuirio Twega:

"Around State House Girls, you can see a big dome inside; I believe it's the new thing."

Munyonyo:

"I'm astounded that a regular at State House did not know this until construction was completed. They can hide things. Weeh."

Mosembe George:

"A State House that befits the king."

Eric Kigada:

"Major renovations are happening to SH right now. It's long overdue, in my opinion. I like this backdrop."

William:

“Seems the tenant has no plans of leaving any time soon.”

Inside Ruto's office

This is one of many impressive structures at State House, Nairobi.

In September 2023, Ruto provided a rare glimpse of his office and also a section of the interior of the house on the hill.

The office is adorned with sculptures of his predecessors, Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki, and Uhuru Kenyatta.

The photos were shared just before he departed for the Africa Climate Summit at the KICC, Nairobi.
