Elijah Kiseuseu, a member of the West Pokot county Assembly, is a happy man after scoring a D+ in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
When did Elijah Kaseuseu drop out of school?
This is a far cry from other students and parents who were discouraged after getting the grade, which is considered dismal by many people.
On January 7, Kaseuseu was so anxious about the release of the KCSE results that he joked his pressure had gone up.

When he learnt about his results, he took to social media to celebrate himself, vowing to continue learning until he finally got a degree.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Kaseuseu shared that he dropped out of school just after sitting for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in 2013.
Initially, the West Pokot leader was supposed to sit for his KCPE exams in 2010, but he had an altercation with his uncle, who was also their primary school's deputy headteacher, and he left, only to return and write the exams three years later.
Where did Kaseseu write his KCSE exams?
"I got 363 marks out of the possible 500 marks but never proceeded to secondary school. I looked at my poverty-stricken home and the way my parents struggled to fend for us and got discouraged," shared the politician.
"I was a very bright student but I just left and started partying, taking alcohol, stealing and that distracted me from education," he added.
In 2022, the two-time MCA decided to go back to school to redeem himself; he registered as a private candidate and sat for his KCSE.
When was Kaseuseu first elected?
Being a social man of the people, Kaseuseu clawed and fought his way to MCA in 2017 and also retained the seat in 2022.
"I have an ambition to be a governor, and that requires one to have a degree. By 2027, I will be vying for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat and, from there compete for the governor's seat," said Kaseuseu.
"In case I leave government, what will I do? I need something to show my connections so that they can help me," he said of the importance of having a good education.
Kaseuseu encourages students who scored D+
Kaseuseu asked students who got D+ and below in the KCSE exams and make use of the TVET and polytechnics around them.
"Trades such as plumbing, painting and other bluce collar jobs are in high demand , especially in foreign countries," shared the politician
Wajackoyah hires private teacher for Nuru Okanga

The vocal political activist revealed lawyer George Wajackoyah hired a personal teacher to help him revise for the exams, and his wife helped him too.
TUKO.co.ke learnt that Okanga dropped out of Class Three and returned to school, hoping to get between 270 and 280 marks.
