Raila and Uhuru were flanked by Rachel Shebesh, Pauline Njoroge, Embakasi West MP Mark Muriithi Mwenje and former Nyeri deputy governor Caroline Karugu, among others.

The meeting between the two leaders comes amid disquiet within Azimio following Raila's decision to approve the National Dialogue Committee's report.

Jubilee Party secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni has also issued his reservations about the report, arguing that the issues of the high cost of living and Kenya Kwanza stopping interference with the former ruling party were non-negotiable.

Karua says report will benefit leaders

Earlier, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karau criticised the recommendations of the report, saying they were not in line with the aspirations of many Azimio la Umoja followers.

According to Karua, the committee failed to address three issues pertinent to the opposition coalition.

Karua asked Kenyans to reject the bipartisan report, arguing that it was only meant to offer goodies to the leaders and not the common Kenyan.

"NADCO report has nothing to alleviate the suffering of citizens but offers goodies to the leaders. It is a fraud which Kenyans should frown upon and reject. It's a distraction smokescreen," Karua said.

Karua pointed out that the report failed to address the rising cost of essential commodities such as fuel and the unemployment challenge.

"The report has failed to address the rise of essential commodities like fuel and food items. The increase of taxation by the state has not also been addressed. Unemployment has also been a challenge that has not been addressed," she added.
