Residents of Ikumba village in Vihiga county are grappling with sorrow and grief following the tragic demise of Timothy Kidiya, a devoted primary school teacher.

The 34-year-old educator met his untimely death while engaged in the seemingly mundane task of harvesting sand to provide for himself and his family.

Rock rolled over, killed him

The unfortunate incident occurred when a massive stone, located near the harvesting site, unexpectedly dislodged and fell on the teacher, claiming his life instantly.

Kidiya's shocking demise has left the students of Ikumba Primary School in mourning as they grapple with the sudden loss of their beloved teacher.

"He was digging up the soil, unaware that the rock was not firmly embedded into the ground, so it just rolled over him," teacher Jane Ambani told TUKO.co.ke.

Villagers recounted the horrifying scene, describing the futile attempts made by onlookers to rescue Kidiya from beneath the weight of the fallen stone.

Despite their tireless efforts, the stone proved too heavy to be moved manually, adding to the helplessness and despair that enveloped the community during the tragic event.

Kidiya, known for his dedication to his students and commitment to education, had taken on the task of sand harvesting as a side hustle.

Elsewhere, comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi was heartbroken after a young boy he fundraised for died.

Baby Dylan had a cancerous growth in his eye, which is how the humorist got involved in his life as he attempted to raise funds for his treatment.

Despite flying the youngster to India for treatment, he passed away and left the charitable comedian reeling in pain.

"We have lost Dylan. We gave it our best. This one hit differently. I was hopeful, but God has his plans. We keep the family in prayer. Rest with the angels, champ," he mourned.
