Ruto asked him about his travels from Busia before reminding him how he caned them during their days in school.

Ouma laughed for a short while before telling Ruto that he had become the president to insinuate that the canes had an impact. He then asked the head of state to remember them.

Addressing the crowd, the president reminisced about his days as a schoolboy before thanking all his teachers.

"Teacher Ouma. Ouma caned us a lot. You punished us here... oh my. Ouma is here, isn't he? That teacher... I've even heard Nyutu saying he'll give him something for tormenting us. But to all my teachers, I want to say thank you very much," he said amid laughter.

Ruto lauds Safaricom

The head of state had nothing but praises for telecom giant Safaricom for their contribution towards the project.

He explained that redeveloping the school would help students by providing a superior environment to learn and perform better.

"We laud the M-Pesa Foundation for its generous support towards the renovation of the Kamagut Primary and construction of Junior and Senior Schools. The redevelopment of the institution will present to our children a superior environment to learn and perform better," he said.

Ruto appealed to other corporations to join and supplement the government’s efforts in such worthy causes.
