Discover The Exciting Features Of MacOS Sequoia: Unleashing Background Replacements For Video Calls

Las características nuevas de macOS Sequoia

Apple is all set to release the final version of macOS Sequoia this fall, and the new features continue to arrive with the beta iterations. One of the standout features that I absolutely love is the Background Replacements during video calls. This feature allows me to add a custom background to my FaceTime or Google Meet calls, providing a fresh look while using Portrait mode with Studio Light. In the latest macOS Sequoia Beta, Apple introduced nine new backgrounds for video conferencing apps that showcase stunning views from the iconic Apple Park in Cupertino.

These new backgrounds mean you can easily infuse your video calls with the vibrant vibes of Apple HQ. The default backgrounds include nine images from Apple Park, showcasing iconic locations such as the Steve Jobs Theatre and the Fitness Studio. One of my favorites is the famous rainbow arch, which brings a delightful touch to any meeting. With these beautiful Apple Park interiors, you can transport yourself into a picturesque setting, reminiscent of the opening scenes of Apple's event videos where Tim Cook often sets the stage.

Transform Your Video Calls with Background Replacements

While platforms like Zoom and Google Meet have had virtual backgrounds for some time, the addition of this feature to FaceTime is a fantastic upgrade. FaceTime is widely used for personal and social video calls, making the background replacement feature an exciting addition that is sure to grab attention. Apple emphasizes that this feature allows you to “express yourself or just hide the laundry behind you,” ensuring you always “look your best” during calls.

How to Change Your Background on Mac Video Calls

Changing your physical surroundings with a virtual background has never been easier! This feature is particularly useful if you find yourself in poorly lit or messy rooms. Here's a quick guide on how to change your background during video calls on your Mac:

  • Start a video call in a compatible app like FaceTime or Google Meet.
  • Now, click on the green camera-like icon in the Menu Bar.
  • Select the Background option so the icon turns green.

Next, you'll see your current thumbnail. Click on it to choose your favorite virtual background from a selection of gradients, built-in backgrounds, or even personal images from your photos. To pick an Apple Park scene, just click on the second tab and select an image. Once you make your choice, macOS Sequoia will instantly replace your physical background with the selected virtual backdrop!

Why You Should Try These New Virtual Backgrounds

You must try these new virtual backgrounds for your next video calls. They look fresh, unique, and much better than the previous options available in Sequoia. Apart from the background replacement feature, another useful addition in macOS Sequoia is the presenter preview. This feature lets you see what you're about to share before it goes live in your video calls, ensuring you're always prepared.
