Minecraft 1.22: 5 Features We Want In The End Update

Minecraft 1.20.10 Bedrock Update Minecraft Guide IGN

Minecraft Live 2024 is slowly approaching and so is the announcement of the next major Minecraft update — Minecraft 1.22. Several players, including me, really want Minecraft 1.22 to be the much-requested End update, and I wish to see this barren land, home to the Ender Dragon, get a major overhaul like the Nether. So today, I will be sharing five features I’d love to see in the Minecraft End update.

Overhauled Biomes

The current End dimension has five different Minecraft biomes, but since they all feel and look the same, it’s no wonder if you didn’t know that. Because of this, it’s important that every biome has its own personality, ambient, mobs, blocks, dangers, and perhaps rewards when Mojang decides to give it a facelift.

This also means that the central End island should be revamped, from obsidian pillars to the End portal. When you think about it, the End dimension is essentially represented as an alien-like land so the opportunities for unique areas are endless.

The most creative possibilities are perfectly captured by the BetterEnd mod, which transforms the whole dimension into a spectacular foreign world full of colors, shapes, and attractions. As you can see above, there is a lot to see and experience in the End dimension. Essentially, every biome has its own color, along with its flora elements and impressive terrain features.

New Building and Decorative Blocks

Overhauled biomes also imply the addition of various new building and decorative blocks to the End. Currently, the blocks you can get in the End are one Dragon egg, end stone blocks, chorus flowers, purpur blocks, end rods, and obsidian. This is nowhere near the number of blocks that the Nether provides.

Looking at the BetterEnd mod again, you get so many types of blocks that your head will start to spin (in a good way). There are new ores, materials, wood types, stone types, precious blocks, light source blocks, utility blocks, transparent blocks, plain and detailed blocks, as well as stairs, slabs, and walls for lots of available full solid blocks.

So, in the potential Minecraft End update, one trip to this dimension could get you all sorts of different blocks for your next fantasy kingdom build or even better an alien-inspired planet or custom biome.

New Unique Mobs

Endermen and shulkers are really cool and special, but this gigantic dimension needs more mobs that’s for sure. The End dimension should be absolutely full of life of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Imagine purple slimes, twisty quick monsters, friendly big-eyed doggos, glowy fish, camouflaging carpet mobs, horse-like mounts, giant jellyfish, gorgeous dragonflies, and so many more creatures awaiting you in this world.

The main theme around the End mobs so far is teleporting, so I think it only makes sense that whatever is introduced to the End has an ability to teleport or be teleported.

New End Structures

We cannot deny that End cities are one of the best structures in the game, because of all the diamond gear and elytra wings they provide us with. Though, just as they say every person needs a friend and the same goes for Minecraft structures. Similarly to mobs, Mojang could go any route with End structures and they won’t be wrong.

The developers could add a village-like structure that offers a place to rest and collect yourself, an underground giant spider lair with traps and quick enemies, a massive palace structure over the void with rare loot, and various other buildings. Just like Overworld and Nether have ruins of some structures, the End should too.

Powerful Item or Weapon

The End dimension is the final destination in Minecraft’s progression and so it has all the most OP loot, including shulker shells, elytra, and the rarest item in the game – Dragon egg. What if there is even more good stuff that constantly encourages you to come back to the End? Maybe a powerful ore that offers a new precious material.

Perhaps, there is a new smithing template that allows you to upgrade netherite or even an item that you can use to teleport mobs a short distance. Minecraft 1.21 introduced the mace to Minecraft, but the End dimension can include its version of the vault that could provide a void core to make a void mace.

With that, those were the End update features I’d love to see one day in vanilla Minecraft. I did go overboard on some suggestions, but you can’t blame me for wanting the End update so much. So, how do you feel about this long-awaited update? Do you agree with my ideas? If your ideas differ from mine, then make sure to leave them in the comments below for everyone to see.
