The first film of the Venom trilogy came out in 2018, and the second one arrived in 2021. Both films received excellent reception as the global fandom loved the chemistry between the titular character, Eddie Brock, and the symbiote Venom. The way the duo managed to control their thorny connection and the way they fought the villains were highly commendable. In the first film, the duo fought Drake and Riot, and in the second, they knocked down the serial killer Cletus Kesady and his symbiote Carnage. Just when we thought the parasite attacks were over, another one arrived in the form of Toxin and took Detective Patrick Mulligan as its host.
While the initial trailers of Venom: The Last Dance teased the threats Eddie and Venom will fight, the final trailer revealed who the main villain of the final part will be. And it’s no other than the sinister Marvel villain Knull. So, before the antagonist appears in the movie when it releases later this year, let’s find out about his origins and the powers and abilities he comes with.
Who Is Knull in Marvel Comics?
When there wasn’t any light and only darkness existed, Knull was one of the most evil deities to exist at that time. However, the Celestials discovered his space and filled it with light as they wanted Knull to take the responsibilities of the universe. The evil being denied their offer and instead waged a war against them. In frustration, he discovered a mighty power called the Living Abyss on a planet where Gorr resided. There, he created the first symbiote with this newly found power, forged it as a sword, and severed one of the Celestials.
Following the first win against the Celestials, Knull created several symbiotes that were way more horrifying than the ones we have seen in the Venom films. No wonder Knull invaded the universe for an extended period. He was not only seen as a terror by every other being in the universe, but Gods were also afraid to challenge him.
Knull: Powers and Abilities
Being the cruelest ruler of the Marvel Cosmic, it would be stupid to judge Knull’s powers and abilities. The villain who has existed before time and any other deity, he is nowhere less than a living terror. When Knull killed the first Celestial using the proto symbiote, he used the energies from the corpse to create a Necrosword. Using the All-Black weapon, he gained immense powers that even other deities couldn’t surpass.
Besides that, the god of the Abyss decapitated the Celestial without breaking any sweat, and he is also capable enough to defeat a massive army of gods without exerting himself much. Now, if we talk about his durability, even the Celestials’ blasts couldn’t cause him any enormous damage. Knull never trained himself to hone his combating skills, but he was exceptionally good when it came to taking down an entire army of worthy enemies.
Knull could manipulate the dark energy and release it in the form of beams with his hands to cause destruction. He has been around for a billion years, so let’s not forget to mention that he is one such Cosmic being who cannot truly be defeated. When Eddie Brock managed to disintegrate the evil deity and severely injured him, making him fall to the Earth from Space, Knull didn’t give up and returned after fully recovering. However, he took several centuries to do so.
Knull’s Weakness Explored
Even the most formidable being has some weaknesses, and Knull seems no different. Being a god of darkness, he cannot tolerate light. Knull becomes vulnerable to this life force that is necessary for every living being. Nothing can give him more pain than light and the powers associated with it.
Whenever a symbiote is attacked during the remote piloting process, any injury it receives can also cause injury to Knull. Knull used the Celestial energy from the dead Celestial’s brain to forge the powerful weapon Necrosword, so basically, it was that Celestial connection that gave him immense powers through the sword. So, the sword couldn’t further supply him powers when the Valkyries broke that connection.
The actor who will portray the ultimate villain of the Venom franchise is still a mystery. We’ll have to wait for the movie to learn about the Knull actor.
