Side quests can be found everywhere across Hyrule in Echoes of Wisdom, some harder than others. However, they all feature some pretty great rewards that will help you significantly as you take on the rifts overwhelming the land.

Cotton Candy Hunt is a quest you’ll find in the late game, deep in the Faron Wetlands. If you need help completing this quest, we’re here to guide you.

How to start the Cotton Candy Hunt quest in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

This side quest can be picked up in Scrubton, by talking to the deku with the hair buns by the Deku Lock Up. This Deku will tell you they found a large amount of cotton candy at a building to the south. This is where you’ll need to go.

Before you can pick up this quest, be sure you’ll need to have completed the Let’s Play a Game quest, found at the Eastern Temple. Without finishing this quest first, you won’t be able to pick up the quest.

Head east out of Scrubton first, then south. You’ll loop back around to directly south of town, where you’ll find two unlit torches in the water and a large statue. We’ve marked the exact spot you need to go on the map below.

In order to get inside, first take out the two singing frogs that are causing it to rain. You can do this with your swordfighter form or any echoes you’d like. The rain will stop so you can light up the torches. Use water blocks to climb to the right height, and summon an Ignizol to light the torches. This will cause the statue to move and you can head downstairs to the temple.

How to beat the Hidden Ruins in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Inside the Hidden Ruins are Sparks, which you’ve faced in the Eastern Temple. You’ll need to use them to solve the puzzles that unlock doors while avoiding getting shocked. Since you should already have the Spark echo, simply summon them whenever you need to fill the yellow box.

The first room is straightforward in this, yet in the next you’ll first need to take out the Baby Gohmas and their webs. You can use the Ignizol again for this, or a Fire Wizzrobe if you’d like. Anything with fire. This will burn the webs down, and under the top right one will be the yellow box to throw the Sparks into.

The next room unfortunately has bars and a pillar blocking the yellow box, so you’ll need to get creative. Summon Sparks to spin around the boulder on the lower end of the room, and then using Bind, place it next to the yellow box and the Sparks will slide right in.

The next few rooms are very straightforward, just avoid getting shocked and summon Sparks into the boxes. You’ll finally be taken to the boss room, where you’ll come across a familiar foe.

How to beat the Smog rematch in the Hidden Ruins

Smog, the boss inside the Eastern Temple, has made his new home here in the Hidden Ruins. You’ll need to defeat him once again. He will have the same pattern that he did during Let’s Play a Game, in that he will break up into smaller clouds that you need to knock back together in order to hit his eye.

Using boulders, block the pathway of the small clouds so they change direction and hit each other. Since you’ll be doing this fight from a side view instead of top-down, I also recommend using the shrub echo since it takes its two blocks tall instead of one. That way you use less energy from Tri to block more space.

When Smog is reformed into a full cloud, hit him in the eye to bring his health down. The arrows in your swordfighter form is the most effective here, but I also used some Spear Moblins to help move the process along. He’ll break up and reform one more time before being defeated.

Reward for Cotton Candy Hunt in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Head back to Scrubton to talk to the deku scrub, and they’ll be upset that they can’t eat the ‘cotton candy’ they saw. They will, however, upgrade the Ancient Charm you got from Let’s Play a Game into a Curious Charm.

The Curious Charm will greatly reduce the damage Zelda takes while wearing it. This is one of the best accessories in the game, and while it’s a longer side quest to get it, it’s definitely worth it.
