Throne and Liberty is full of field activities known as Dynamic Events, with the Wolf Hunting Contest being the first you encounter. It’s possible to join by accident, especially if you’re running around completing quests and randomly entering the contest area.
Let’s talk about the Wolf Hunting Contest in Throne and Liberty, including its start times, how to get points, and its potential rewards.
What is the Wolf Hunting Contest in Throne and Liberty?
Throne and Liberty’s Wolf Hunting Contest is a Dynamic Event in Blackhowl Plains. You’ll find this spot north of Kastleton, with a recommended level of 8-11. It takes place every three hours and lasts around 20 minutes.
During the Wolf Hunting Contest, you’ll hunt wolves and collect their tails. Whoever delivers the most wolf tails to Blackhowl Plains’ campsites will get the event’s top prizes, with other rewards available based on ranking. It’s also a peaceful event, so although you’ll fight wolves during it, there are no PvP elements.
In other words, the Wolf Hunting Contest is all about eliminating wolves before other players do. They’ll constantly respawn, but you’ll still want strong enough weapons and armor to dish out some damage.
Throne and Liberty Wolf Hunting Contest schedule
The exact schedule for the Wolf Hunting Contest depends on your current server. You can view your server’s events by selecting the Schedule button next to your minimap. The exact picture will depend on the ongoing event, but it’ll usually appear as a Gigantrite, green, or red image. Clicking this shows you current events alongside those throughout the next few hours.
The Wolf Hunting Contest and other Dynamic events occur every three hours simultaneously, giving you several opportunities to participate daily. For example, one server schedule may have it start at the following times:
- Midnight
- 3 a.m.
- 6 a.m.
- 9 a.m.
- Noon
- 3 p.m. (15:00)
- 6 p.m. (18:00)
- 9 p.m. (21:00)
You’ll also find other Dynamic events in the list, including guild, cooperative, and PvP ones, allowing you to spend time doing other things before hopping into some wolf hunting.
How to get Wolf Tails during the Wolf Hunting Contest
The key to winning the Wolf Hunting Contest is to hunt wolves and collect their tails. Each wolf drops a few tails, with the top-ranking players usually obtaining around 400 by the end. Once you get some tails, you’ll need to hand them into one of the campsites in Blackhowl Plains, shown on your map with green crate icons.
Although hunting wolves is the main way to get tails, you can also get them by helping hunters. Occasionally, you’ll spot NPCs getting attacked by wolves, yelling for help. They’ll give you extra tails and a thank-you for assisting them. Although this won’t replace wolf hunting, it’s nice to do between kills if you’re struggling to compete with other players.
Wolf Hunting Contest rewards
Your leaderboard ranking during Throne and Liberty’s Wolf Hunting Contest directly impacts the rewards you receive. Anyone who ranks within the top ten spots will get Rare Magic Powder, Sollants, and 20 Activity Points, while lower ranks get uncommon-grade Quality Magic Powder and slightly less cash.
As long as you hand in at least one wolf tail, you’ll receive some Quality Magic Powder, Sollants, and Tasty Food Selection chests as a participation prize. You can also complete various exploration quests relating to the Wolf Hunting Contest, providing extra rewards in your Codex.
