In Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you’ll need to use your Echoes to get through battles and encounters, as well as Swordfighter Form. There are three different weapons that unlock at different times, and all of them need upgrading.
Not only do the weapons themselves need upgrading, but you’ll also need to upgrade your energy in order to extend the time that you can be in Swordfighter Form. Admittedly, all of this is a lot to take on board, but we can help you get to grips with the system.
How to upgrade Swordfighter Form in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
Before you can upgrade Swordfighter Form, you’ll need to get your hands on Might Crystals. There are a total of 150 Might Crystals that you can find across Hyrule, and you can get them by completing quests, opening treasure chests, or completing any of the Stilled World Rifts.
Once you’ve got some Might Crystals, you’ll need to visit Lueberry’s House in Hyrule Field, which unlocks after you’ve completed the Suthorn Ruins rift. All weapons start out at level one, and you can interact with the furnace in the corner of Lueberry’s House to upgrade them.
Your energy, which goes up to level 4, or Mighty Weapons, which go up to level 3, cost the following number of Might Crystals to upgrade:
Energy | Sword | Bow | Bomb | |
Level 2 upgrade | 5 | 10 | 10 | 10 |
Level 3 upgrade | 10 | 20 | 20 | 20 |
Level 4 upgrade | 20 | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Upgrade unlocks for each Mighty Weapon
Upgrading your weapons will give you certain perks, depending on which weapon you upgrade. Each upgrade to your energy will increase the length of the energy bar, and therefore the time that you have to use Swordfighter Form.
Here’s what you get for each upgrade to your weapons:
Level 2 upgrade | Level 3 upgrade | |
Sword | Damage increase Spin attack radius increase | Sword Beam (if at full hearts) Damage increase Spin attack radius increase |
Bow | Spreadshot (hold X) Damage increase Range increase Velocity increase | Damage increase Range increase Velocity increase |
Bomb | Bombchu (Hold A) Damage increase Blast radius increase | Damage increase |
Mighty Weapon upgrade priority in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
Order of priority:
- Sword
- Bow
- Energy
- Bombs
While it’s tempting to throw all of your Might Crystals into extending your energy bar, especially given the reduced cost of upgrading, this isn’t advisable. You’re better off using ingredients found during your adventures to create energy restoring Smoothies, and saving your Might Crystals for other uses.
You’re better off piling your Might Crystals into your Mighty Sword first, because at level 3 it can become a dual melee and ranged weapon, provided that you have full hearts. Each level increase for the Mighty Sword increases the damage you can do to enemies, making them easier to defeat.
Upgrading your Bow should come second, as the increased stats come in handy against enemies who are opposed to staying still, such as Mogryph. The Mighty Bow can become really strong, as long as you pile the Might Crystals into it.
Bombs are at the bottom of the list, as they’re not used all that often and can be pretty slow, plus you can use Zirro or Bombfish Echoes in place of Mighty Bombs. Once you’ve fully upgraded the rest of your weapons, you can then pile the remainder of Might Crystals into upgrading your Mighty Bombs.
