Eldoret - The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released the method through which the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates can receive their results.

On Monday, January 8, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the 2023 KCSE results at Moi Girls High School, Eldoret.

Over 903,260 candidates registered for the national examination, which was administered from October 10 to November 24, 2023, are today expected to get their KCSE results.

How to get 2023 KCSE exam results

Unlike in the past, KNEC has unveiled a new way in which candidates can access their 2023 KCSE exam results.

To access the results, candidates are urged to access the results online through the KNEC website.

Candidates will be required to input their index number and their names as per the registration data for the 2023 KCSE examination.

"Individual 2023 KCSE candidates' examination results will be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly through the URL: www.results.knec.ac.ke.
"You will be required to enter the candidate's index number and the name (s) as per the registration data for the 2023 KCSE examination," a statement from KNEC read in part.

During the release of exam results, KNEC CEO David Njengere said there was no cheating in the 2023 KCSE examinations.

"The double collection policy was made possible through mapping of all centres and aligning them to collection points close to them for convenience. The policy helped eliminate early exposure of second session papers; a practice that had been a menace since 2016," Njengere said.

Why Machogu wanted SMS code repealed

As earlier reported, the Education CS announced the repeal of the SMS code used to confirm national examination results.

In a video shared by Kenya News Alert, Machogu stated that the department and the Ministry of ICT are working towards opening a website where all candidates can check their results for free.

“We (Ministry of Education) do away with SMS transmission of national exam provisional results and open a new platform. Currently, school portals are the most reliable," said Machogu.

Speaking in response to questions raised by the National Assembly Education Committee, he noted that, at the moment, only school portals can access the website.

The CS further disclosed that the ministry had terminated the services of the contractor in charge of transmitting 2023 KCPE results through SMS, holding the firm accountable for the wrong results received by certain candidates.

The announcement came after schools and students raised complaints about the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results, disowning the results.
