The founder and president of the Atheists in Kenya Society, Harrison Mumia, has dismissed notions that the group's members are devil worshippers.
Are atheists devil worshippers?
In an interview, Mumia also refuted assertions that the society members' lack of belief in God was a clever disguise for devil worship.
He explained that the members do not believe in the existence of God, Satan, and other deities or the supernatural.

"We atheists do not believe in the devil. We just don't believe that there is a God, worst still, a God who has a son or a prophet, for that matter. And that we must believe in the Son or the Prophet for us to go to heaven. It is time for Kenyans to be critical and sceptical of these things," said Mumia.
According to the president, life is more significant than the belief in God or the tenets of traditional or mainstream religions, Christianity and Islam.
"I believe that life is bigger than the belief in God."
Mumia called Kenyans to question their beliefs and grow more critical of religions.
"I am proud that Kenyans are getting to a point where they realise that religion is untrue. That the belief in God, Jesus or Mohammed does not make sense and that you do not have to believe in those things to live a happy life.
You can live a comfortable, happy and fulfilling life without those things," said Mumia.
The president asserted that Kenyans must break open what they believe, just as he did during his formative campus years.
"I grew up in a religious family. My mom is a religious person, and so is my dad. But I am not," said Mumia.
To Mumia, there is no evidence for God.
"If you look around, do you realise there is no God? You don't have to be a thinker. What is God doing on this earth? We have so many problems. Go to hospitals where people are sick with cancer; people are dying of hunger, diseases and road accidents. There is war."
He said if God truly is omnipotent, then He has the power to eliminate all evil.
"I am just wondering, where is this God, and what is He doing? You don't need to be a genius. These are simple questions you can ask. When you ask, you realise that God is nowhere. We are here alone.”
What did atheists ask from Kenyans?
In other news, Mumia begged Kenyans to help raise the rent.
He said generous contributions from well-wishers would enable their office operations to proceed smoothly.
Netizens poked fun at the request, stating that society should turn to God.
