Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has disclosed he maintained third position throughout his primary school academic journey.
Who are Babu Owino's classmates?
The second-term lawmaker, who met his former schoolmate Tom Mboya over lunch at a city joint, recalled how they made it from very painful backgrounds in Nyalenda slums, Kisumu county.
According to Babu, Mboya is the epitome of academic excellence and always topped their class.

In a widely shared Facebook post, Babu celebrated Mboya as a brilliant deskmate who, despite their painful struggles in Nyalenda, always emerged as position one from Class 3 to Class 8.
The MP said he always came third, hot on the heels of another childhood friend, Walter Buyu, who is now an engineer.
"I tried to beat you in Primary school, but you were the best. I gave up as you were always in position one from class 3 to class 8. Our brother Walter Buyu was always in the second position as I took my 3rd Position from class 3 to class 8.
Now you are a neurosurgeon, Walter Buyu, an engineer, and I am an actor, lawyer, and MP. Kudos, bros," shared Babu.
Mboya, on his part, narrated that Babu and Buyu, by Class 6, would sit for exams done by students in classes ahead of them.
"By class six, we would sit for internal exams with class seven and eight students. And all three of us would be in the top seven. Let me stop being modest. While in class seven, I would tie at number one or worse, come second to a class 8 student during such joint exams," said Mboya.
He was delighted that through their resolve and quest for success through education, Babu became a lawyer, a distinguished actuarial scientist and an MP, while Buyu became an engineer.
The legislator also took a swipe at Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja over his controversial academic qualifications.
Does Sakaja have degree?
Sakaja, on the other hand, was treated to a circus ahead of the August 2022 polls regarding the legality of his academic credentials.
The governor, however, has maintained that he has a degree from Teams University in Uganda.
In 2022, the High Court dismissed a petition challenging the validity of the degree.
This, however, has not stopped his detractors from calling him out to account for his university education.
Babu Owino has eyes on the governor seat in 2027.
