The malfunction was attributed to a power outage, which ride operators swiftly addressed to restore functionality.
"The ride operators and customer services handled the issue quickly, and the riders were safely escorted off the ride," a spokesperson for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland said, as reported by The Mirror.
He assured the public that the safety of their visitors has always been a top priority, and all rides undergo rigorous and regular safety checks by experienced staff members.
What's a Blizzard ride?
The Blizzard ride is a towering attraction featuring a long rotating arm with seats at either end, which turns around like a giant clock.
It is known for its thrilling ascent to heights of up to 65 meters and lifts riders up and down at high speeds.
Despite the terrifying incident, other Winter Wonderland rides continued operating without interruption.
Lumberjack malfunctions for 25 minutes
In an almost similar incident in September 2023, riders aboard a Lumberjack attraction found themselves in a precarious situation when the ride malfunctioned, leaving them suspended upside down for a harrowing 25 minutes
TikTok videos showed the passengers with their heads dangling towards the ground while their feet reached for the sky as they patiently waited for technicians to rectify the issue.
During the 25-minute nerve-wracking ordeal, one distressed rider reportedly experienced motion sickness and vomited while trapped on the ride.
