Nairobi - United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary general Cleophas Malala said the ruling political outfit plans to build a leadership school at the new party headquarters.
Malala made the remarks on Friday, December 1, after hosting the Communist Party of China delegation led by MAO Dingzi, member of the Ministerial Board of the Organisation Department of the CPC Central Committee (ODCPC), and China's Ambassador to Kenya, Zhou Pingjian, at the party headquarters.
"Together, we resolved to ensure that our parties increase cooperation in the areas around leadership, exchange programmes, and the establishment of the UDA Party Leadership School," Malala said.

What UDA and CPC agreed on
The leaders also agreed on collaboration in capacity building and strengthening party structures and programmes.
"Our Chinese counterparts will also support the UDA party in areas of ICT as we prepare to conduct our first-ever grassroots elections next April. We are also working closely with the CPC as it moves to build party offices in the country that will have a leadership school," Malala added.
UDA and CPC also agreed to strengthen areas of trade, foreign direct investments, infrastructure, and scholarships.
"Later, I introduced the CPC team to the UDA party secretariat and party departments," Malala further said in a post on his official X social media platform.
TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that UDA party grassroots elections slated for December this year had been pushed forward.
When will the UDA party grassroots be held
Malala said the election will be held in three phases in April 2023.
The resolution was realised after a National Steering Council (NSC) meeting presided over by President William Ruto in his capacity as the party leader.
"Following a National Steering Council (NSC) meeting held on November 18, 2023, and chaired by the party leader. The United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) wishes to notify all members and aspirants that the grassroots elections initially scheduled for December 9, 2023, have been postponed," said Malala.
The elections would be undertaken in three clusters on April 12, 19 and 26 April, 2024.
While encouraging the aspirants to continue enlisting themselves ahead of the polls, the party said it would soon release a detailed schedule outlining county clusters.
In September this year, Ruto declared that it was all systems go for the December elections. According to him, the plan would be to build the outfit into a governance institution.
