When they asked the inebriated intruder what he was doing, he told them he didn't know where he was.
Upon further inspection, they discovered the thief was hanging from the window frame because his shoelaces were entangled.
The couple disentangled Moore, restrained him, and called the police, who opened charges against him.
Moore has 116 previous offences
Prosecutor Leila Taleb told the court that Moore used recycling bins to climb up to the small open window of the flat.
Defence lawyer Matthew Stewart told the court that his client was walking through the city after a drink when he made the "spontaneous" decision to break into the flat.
"This is one of the most inept burglaries that has appeared before me for quite some time," said Judge Simon Hickey.
Moore, who has 116 previous offences, pleaded guilty to burglary and was jailed for two years and four months.
His rap sheet is "littered with thefts", as he had five burglary convictions between 2018 and 2022.
Kenyans doubt suspect arrested
Elsewhere, police officers in Baringo arrested a suspected notorious bandit, Lonyangapat Amerinyang’, who allegedly coordinated banditry activities in the North Rift region.
At the time of his arrest, Amerinyang’ was found in possession of two firearms and 15 rounds of ammunition.
Many who reacted to the news by the police expressed their scepticism over the arrest, as others claimed he was only a pawn in the dangerous game of banditry.
