The United States Supreme Court has agreed to take up Donald Trump's appeal against a decision by Colorado to bar him from contesting the November 2024 presidential seat.
Following the Supreme Court's announcement, Secretary of State Jena Griswold of Colorado certified the state's ballots for the upcoming presidential primary elections, featuring Trump's name.
"The United States Supreme Court has accepted the case, and Donald Trump will appear on the ballot as a result," Griswold said in a statement.

Why should Trump return to the ballot?
According to the BBC, the decision followed a petition by attorneys from 27 states asking the court to uphold his bid, as disqualifying him would lead to a series of chaos.
"Most obviously, it casts confusion into an election cycle that is just weeks away. Beyond that, it upsets the respective roles of the Congress, the States, and the courts," read the submission in part.
The case will be heard in February, and the ruling will apply nationwide.
Why was Trump delisted from 2024 ballot?
On December 21, 2023, according to CBS News, the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Trump from vying for the presidency after lawsuits filed against him accused him of engaging in insurrection during the US Capitol riot three years ago.
"We conclude that because President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Secretary to list President Trump as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot," the court's majority wrote in an unsigned opinion.
"Therefore, the Secretary may not list President Trump's name on the 2024 presidential primary ballot, nor may she count any write-in votes cast for him."
Trump to launch 2024 comeback bid
The 76-year-old vocal politician ignored calls from his Republican party loyalists to drop his intention of returning to the ballot.
According to one of Trump's advisors, Jason Miller, the to-be presidential aspirant, would deliver a speech aimed at informing the public about his move to launch the 2024 presidential bid.
"President Trump is going to announce on Tuesday that he's running for president," said one of his advisors, Jason Miller, who predicts the speech will be 'very professional, very buttoned up.'
