Former Taita Taveta woman representative Joyce Lay has pleaded with the government to reduce DNA testing services to KSh 1000.

According to the former lawmaker, many men are raising kids they did not sire, and this especially applies to married couples.

"Men are suffering; some cannot have the test done because they can't afford it. Others are also afraid of what the wife will say," he said.

What is a DNA test?

KIBs can determine whether a man is or isn't a particular child’s father with an accuracy of up to 99.9999%.

It is also possible to perform a DNA test using samples from the brother’s father if the alleged father is not available.

What is the cost of DNA in Kenya?

According to the organisation, the 24-marker DNA test costs KSh 15,000 per person (total: KSh 30,000 for the alleged father and one child).

The 44-marker DNA test costs KSh 20,000 per person (total: KSh 40,000 for one alleged father and one child).

There are different entities which charge slightly more or less than the above costs in Kenya as well.

"Let's also put it in law that DNA details should be attached to birth certificate records of every child," said Lay.
"To you, woman, why are you living a lie in that marriage or relationship? Why are you lying about the father of the baby? Do you really want to go to heaven? Why are you lying about your child's paternity? That is evil!" she continued.

Lay says women need deliverance

An irked Lay slammed such women, said they were passed by demons and said they needed deliverance.

"You cheat and sleep well surely?" wondered the preacher.
"You con men money lying to them that they are the fathers of the kids. Some of you are even saved, preach and sing in the choir and yet you have such deep secrets in your houses."

Lay told such women to turn to God and allow the Holy Ghost to lead them on what to do.

Woman has last laugh after DNA test

Elsewhere, a woman was over the moon when a DNA test proved that her husband was the father of their baby.

The two appeared on the famous Global DNA Show hosted by Tinashe Mugabe on the TikTok platform.

When Mugabe made the announcement, the lady was happy, but she later demanded that the husband give her money to buy a bed.
