A Kenyan woman using the TikTok handle @shanyzzthebosslady has given a glimpse of the coins and notes she had been saving in her homemade bank.

The TikToker shared a video showing her breaking her 20-litre cooking oil mtungi, where notes and coins of unknown value spread on the floor.

How woman saved money at home

The woman, while sharing the video, used TikToker Shon Arwa's voice proclaiming that it was December and that she does not expect people to borrow her money.

She also explained that it took her approximately nine months to save the unknown value but emphasised that it also needed her to be disciplined and consistent.

In the video, there were so many coins and notes of KSh 100 and KSh 50 all over which got many asking questions.

Some netizens also shared they will be joining her in January so they can be on the saving journey together.

Lady breaks piggy bank, displays saved cash

In a similar story, a Nigerian lady and her husband showed off the money they had been able to save in the year 2023.

In a short clip they shared in TikTok, the couple brought out the box, cracked it open and counted the crumpled 1000 notes in it.

While they did not mention the amount they saved, some of their followers estimate that the money could be at least KSh 40,000.
