Allan Kiuna's battle with cancer
In 2019, Allan's wife, Kathy, disclosed that he had been diagnosed with the deadly illness. Thankfully, he beat it and went into remission.
However, the cancer recurred, forcing him to seek treatment once again.
Based on Kathy's statement, it appears the man of God came out on top, beating the disease.
"What we've waited for has come to pass... see what the Lord has done. Welcome home, honey @bishopkiuna," she wrote on her Instagram along with a heartwarming video of her receiving her husband at the airport.
Netizens react to Allan Kiuna's grand reception
Unfortunately, not everyone took Allan's huge, grand airport reception so well.
In the comment section of a video shared by spmbuzzke, netizens went head to head with the pastors' supporters and congregants.
While some took it upon themselves to explain the reason for the pomp and colour, sceptical netizens still felt it was unnecessary.
@jojakeskairu:
"For context. Bishop Allan has been away for a long time receiving treatment for a deadly illness ... The celebration is for God's faithfulness and favour."
@comedian_mitch:
"Nikapewa tu kiboko hapa!"
@mauryn_georgephotography:
"Our bishop is back we celebrate the doing of the Lord."
@barasamaina:
"Some youngsters keyboard warriors are quick to type negative comments, you have no idea what Cancer treatment is, maybe you need some serious experience to humble you. Am happy to see this, celebrating someone while he's still alive."
@martha_kihiu:
"True meaning of give me my flowers when still alive! This is beautiful ."
Kathy on paying first date with Allan Kiuna
The wealthy Kiunas have been married for almost three decades and have three children.
However, this was not always the case. Kathy disclosed that her husband was as broke as a church mouse when they met.
Speaking during a past Daughters of Zion (DOZ) meeting, the mother of three revealed that her man paid five goats for her dowry because he couldn't afford much.
"My husband brought five goats as dowry. They were malnourished. Today, we would still be chewing the goats bishop brought," she said.
The stylish preacher said when Allan took cows to her home, her father hid them in the backyard and brought out well-fed and healthy goats, which he presented to the family.
Kathy narrated how they went on the first date, and she paid.
"He took me out for a coffee date, but I paid for it. Today he can buy me a shop," she said.
