Netizens on TikTok hilariously reacted to a video that highlighted profitable low-capital businesses to pursue in Kenya including starting a church.

The video described the approximate profit from each business and the requirements to start the business, which generated various reactions from netizens.

Farming business

According to the video, you need a piece of land with a water supply, a starting capital, and farming skills and if farmers major in crops such as onions, potatoes, or tomatoes, they can get a profit of about KSh 300k to KSh 500k.

"Farming, sai nko na 37bags za maize, nangojea kuuza next yr,nko kuku naget 3k daily,za mayai," said @User7455163872787
"You forgot cereals," said @Mike

Others warned that farming is very challenging and may not be profitable if not approached the right way.

"On the ground, things are different," warned @jenniemos 01.
@martynkalasya asked, "I have a quarter an acre of land, are you sure if I do as you have written I will get KSh 300k after 3 months?"
"Easier said than done... Especially farming forces of demand and supply with frustrate you excessively," @FattenedMouse warned.
"Not potatoes. Potatoes is a NO NO," wrote @Sir James Njoroge

Beauty industry

The video highlighted the beatuy industry which includes grooming and hairdressing as the second sector that is raking profits in the current Kenyan market.

"Watching with my beauty spa and no customers," @moreenkanana said.
"Farming profit, but salon will fail you," wrote @sonnie.
"Here number 2 fits me best," wrote @princexxamor.
@alvin_handsome remarked, " on salon and cosmetics, you have lied."

Online gigs

Most of the comments seemed to agree that online gigs are a lucrative sector for young people in Kenya

"On online writing I agree," @Cartel~003 said.
@Mercy Mercy Mwaniki said, "the one on online gigs works, you don't have to pay rent, am proud to be in that's opportunity."
@real wrote, "online gigs has been good to me. Trying farming soon, onions and garlic."

Church

Many netizens were surprised that churches are now taunted as businesses while others sarcasticaly said they were thinking of starting their churches.

@jojoy said, "didn't see church coming."
@kevincwachez wrote, "church is doing better than all the others, if you consider taxation. it's the best business to invest in. I might buy a microphone very soon."
sheee240 wrote, "I didn't expect to find church in this but unfortunately it's a now known business."
"Thank God our pastor is rich and his wealth has never been from church," @cellinedavide said.
"The idea on church is true, saw a pastor with V8 within 6 months," wrote @smarttriumph.
@abuu_wa_lylaa wrote, "the fourth one sound good the problem am Muslim. where can I get someone to be the pastor and I will provide Capital."

High cost of farming

In other news related to farming, a Kenyan pig farmer discouraged people from getting into animal farming due to the soaring costs of feeds and animal medicine.

The TikToker, @chegemajuice, whose video was reposted on X (formerly Twitter) by Gabriel Oguda, cited an exponential increase in the prices of goods necessary for successful pig farming as a deterrent to Kenyans seeking to get into agribusiness, particularly animal farming.

"I am a small farmer with two or three pigs, and I can tell you, this is the wrong time for a young person like you to think of doing farming in Kenya. Not only a young person, any person doing farming in Kenya, don't dare when Ruto is the president," said @Chegemajuice in his TikTok video.
