Kiambu: 2 Men Who Kidnapped Woman, Robbed Her KSh 645k Nabbed By Detectives

Kiambu - Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two men suspected of having kidnapped a woman in Juja, Kiambu county.

In a statement on Wednesday, December 20, DCI said the two suspects abducted the woman and robbed her of KSh 645,000.

"Two men suspected of abducting a lady three days ago in Juja, Kiambu county and stealing over KSh 645,000 from her have been arrested by detectives," DCI said.

The two suspects, identified as Laban Chomba Muthini and Peter Mugera Maburi, were arrested after a road chase with DCI's operations sleuths.

"Laban Chomba Muthini and Peter Mugera Maburi were arrested after the Nissan Note Reg. No. KCL 320Y they were using was intercepted after a road chase with DCI's Operations sleuths, moments after abandoning the blindfolded victim at Githingiri Estate near Thika Greens Gatanga in Murang'a County," the statement added.

How suspects stole KSh 685k in Kiambu

According to DCI, the two suspects kidnapped the lady on December 16 after forcing her to enter their vehicle, which had three occupants.

They blindfolded her and ordered her to give out her mobile money and bank account details, where they proceeded and withdrew KSh 585,000.

"Once inside, she was blindfolded and ordered to give her mobile money and bank account PINs, where over KSh 585,000 was withdrawn and transferred to six registered lines, and another KSh 80,000 in cash stolen from her purse," the statement added.

The victim was later dumped at 8pm when good samaritans helped her to Samuru Police Station, where she reported her ordeal

"Having cooperated and pleading for dear life, she was thrown out of the vehicle at 8pm that night, where good Samaritans helped her to Samuru police station where she formally reported before the case was referred to the Operations team," DCI said

KSh 300k theft in Turkana

Elsewhere, four people were put in police custody as investigators concluded a probe into their conduct after being intercepted with loot.

The quartet of suspects comprises Stephen Kamire, Erick Odhiambo, Raphael Ndeda Otieno, and Emmanuel Okoth.

Police intercepted them on Tuesday, December 19, at Sopel along Lodwar -Kitale Highway while onboard a getaway vehicle, a Toyota Ractis, registration details KDJ 496.

They are believed to have stolen KSh 300,000 and other valuables from a stationary vehicle in Lodwar.

"Recovered from them was the money, four smart phones, eight SIM cards, and three button phones. Preliminary investigations suggest that the money was stolen from a parked car. The matter is under investigation by DCI Turkana Central," read a statement from the police.
