According to news sources, the man died at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) where he was getting treatment.
He had been attacked, robbed and stripped naked by an unknown gang.
Kisumu East sub-county police boss Joseph Obara while addressing the aggrieved locals said the matter would be addressed through an increased number of police patrols.
“This road to Wigot is a hotspot, we have had another incident…during this festive season, we have made security arrangements on how to cover it,” Obara was quoted by Citizen TV.
In another case of insecurity in Kiambu county, a fairly elderly woman was found dead four days after he went missing.
Sixty-seven-year-old Mama Murigi was reported missing on Monday, November 20, with her kin coming across her body four days later.
She was on her way to a coffee plantation near Riara, where she worked.
The family embarked on a thorough search after days passed without the puzzle of her whereabouts being settled.
Body found inside thicket
This was after the posters they shared seeking her failed to return any results, even as they held onto the hope of finding her alive.
Their bubble would, however, burst on Friday, November 24, when they came across her body.
In the course of their search, one of Mama Murigi's children spotted a heap of shopping bags, which aroused her curiosity.
She nervously crept to the spot where she saw her mother's body lying; she would then let out a scream that caught the attention of the others in the search mission.
This was at a thicket inside a cemetery within Ndumberi.
Her family implied their matriarch was killed elsewhere, and her body dumped there going by the marks on the forehead suggesting she was hit by a blunt object.
Further signs indicated she had been sexually assaulted.
"We have been looking for her. We came about this morning as a family accompanied by our neighbours to search for her. We reached a certain junction and split into groups to look for her in all the possible corners. One of us saw a shopping bag which aroused curiosity. We went and found her body there. The marks on her forehead showed she had been hit by something," said Alice Murugi, one of the deceased's children.
