Former Churchill comedian MCA Tricky has slammed YY Comedian for refuting the claims that their mentor Churchill had given them cars or money as a token of appreciation.

The controversy started when Paul Ogutu Wakimani, another ex-Churchill comedian, revealed in an interview that Churchill had offered all his comedians a choice between a car and KSh 300,000 to invest in their careers.

However, YY dismissed Wakimani’s claims as false.

He said they were never given any cars.

He took to his Instagram stories to clarify the matter to his fans and followers.

"Let me clarify because a lot of people are asking. No one bought us cars. No one. Paul (Wakimani) you can’t make people look that ungrateful…of whose interest is all this showroom story?” he wrote.

But MCA Tricky, who left the Churchill Show to pursue a career in radio, came to Wakimani’s defence and blasted YY for being quick to deny the claims rather than being grateful for what Churchill had done for them.

He said he received KSh 300,000 from Churchill and attributed all his wealth and success to Churchill and his platform.

“Let’s be quick to be grateful instead of being quick to deny the claims. Let’s be quick to appreciate what Churchill did to us instead of being quick to clarify whether it is true or false. Personally, as MCA Tricky, Churchill gave me KSh 300,000 in the groups that we were in. That is the truth. There was money that was sent to different groups and Churchill told us to use the money in knowing how to catch the fish.
Churchill gave me cars. He gave me all the plots I have, a radio job and so many things. God used him to give all those things. For example, I am doing radio, there is no way I would get the job without being MCA Tricky, and I became MC Tricky thanks to Churchill’s platform. The fact is Churchill helped us,” MCA Tricky said during a podcast session with Wakimani.

Churchill didn't pay me - Eric Omondi

Separately, Eric Omondi opened up about his stay at Churchill’s Laugh Industry show.

In an interview with Plug TV, the funnyman said Churchill never paid him a single cent for his three-season performance.

He also warned comedians against tarnishing Churchill's name or blaming him when the going gets tough.
