Nairobi - A data analyst is in despair after a man pretending to be a lady drugged and stole from him.
Johnson Onyango lost KSh 8,000 in cash, five mobile phones and a pair of shoes worth KSh 7000, among other items valued at KSh 145,000 after the romantic encounter.
He later learnt that the woman he met at a nightclub in Kayole and took home was a man, Evans Willis Ouma, after he was tracked down and arrested.

A report by NTV Kenya revealed that Onyango was drinking at the bar when a 'woman' approached him and asked him to dance. After the dance, the two left the club to spend the night at his home.
However, when they got home, Ouma asked Onyango to continue drinking, serving him wine, and he started to pass out, but he could hear Ouma hailing a motorcycle rider.
Onyango told police he woke up the next day feeling exhausted and realised that the 'lady' was not around alongside his property. He reported to the Kayole Police Station.
What charges will Ouma face?
Ouma was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Agnes Mwangi of the Makadara Law Courts, where he was charged with stupefying to commit an offence.
The professional dancer was also charged with theft and handling stolen property on Friday, December 8, after they met at a club. He denied the charges.
During the proceedings, Mwangi asked Ouma if he would be comfortable in a women’s or men’s prison since she had registered that Ouma was transgender.
Prison officials told the court that the suspect had been held in a men’s prison in the past. He was released on KSh 200,000 bail with no option for cash bail.
Kenyan man caught pretending to be lady
Elsewhere, Stanley Omondi, a male chess player who posed as a woman to participate in the women's section of the 2023 Kenya Open Chess Championship, was arrested.
Victor Ng'ani, a member of the Chess Kenya Disciplinary Committee, stated that they would address the matter once a formal complaint is received from the Executive Committee.
While Ng'ani ruled out a lifetime ban, he emphasised that Omondi's offence is grave and may result in a significant penalty, possibly a lengthy ban.
