Creatives Blessed Njugush, Abel Mutua and Eddie Butita have received some of the highest state awards in the country.

The three were awarded the honorary Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by President William Ruto on Tuesday, December 12, during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations.

The OGW is awarded to individuals for outstanding service rendered to the country in different responsibilities and capacities.

Other notable figures awarded during the celebrations include athletes Faith Kipyegon, Ferdinand Omanyala, Kelvin Kiptum and Mary Moraa.

Kipyegon received the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH), the second-highest honorary award in Kenya.

Comedian Butita took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude to President Ruto for recognising his contribution to Kenya's entertainment scene.

"Thank you my friend His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto for awarding me the O.G.W Order of the Grand Warrior, I am now officaily Edwin Butita (O.G.W).
"The journey has been great so far, na bado tunazidi kusonga in God we trust, my vision is to make a difference in the entertainment industry and create more opportunities," he wrote.

William Ruto awards Kate actress and Awinja

Additionally, celebrated Kenyan actors Kate Actress and Jacky Vike, aka Awinja, also received the honorary OGW.

Kate took to her Instagram stories to share a photo of her at State House Nairobi, where she was awarded.

Earlier, she had hinted that Jamhuri Day would be a day to remember, with her fans and celebrity friends praising her.

She also paraded an invitation to the state house that she received for a luncheon after the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
