Although unconfirmed, sources indicated that Nyambaria posted a mean score of 11.31, signifying A-(minus).

This would be an improvement juxtaposed with the performance in the 2022 KCSE examination when the school recorded an overall mean score of 10.89, a B+(plus).

KNEC flagged as fake the claim that the school had an overall mean grade of A in last year's test.

How did Nyambaria High fair in 2022 KCSE exams?

Nyambaria featured in the charts in the 2022 KCSE examination after it sent all its candidates to the university.

The school posted a mean grade score of 10.89, outdoing itself among the traditional academic giants who had edged over others for years.

It had 488 candidates writing this year's examinations. Of the candidates, 28 scored straight As; 383 finalists secured a mean grade of A-(minus).

Seventy-six candidates attained a B+ (plus), with only one getting a B (plain).

With the results, Nyambaria would dislodge the institutions that had previously dominated the charts, like Alliance Boys and Girls High School(s), Mang'u, Lenana Boys, Starehe Boys Centre, Chavali High School and Kenya High School among others.

How many candidates got grade A in the 2023 KCSE examination?

While releasing the 2023 results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu revealed that only 1,216 candidates out of 895, 533 scored a mean grade of A.

"There were 1,216 (0.14%) candidates who obtained an overall grade of A in the 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 1,146 (0.13%) candidates in the year 2022," Machogu said.

Of those who scored As, 889 were from national schools, while 172 were from extra-county schools.

Private schools produced 143 As, with county and sub-county schools producing 5 and 7 respectively.

A total of 18,078 students attained a mean grade of B+, with 10,370 males and 7,708 females. For B plain, there are 36,728 candidates, while a total of 59,514 scored B-, and 78,343 scored C+.

"The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification (Grade C+ and above) was 201,133 (22.27%) in the year 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 173,345 (19.62%) in the year 2022. This is as a result of the application of a new grading system," Machogua announced.

Over 4,000 students would not get their results due to irregularities.

"The results of the remaining 4,109 candidates who were suspected to have engaged in examination irregularities have been withheld pending the completion of investigations into their cases," the CS said.
