Nairobi - A young lady has painfully opened up about an unbearable truth she discovered after years.

Mary Njoki said that for over 20 years, she never experienced her periods, but she thought it was usual for the delay.

She noted she was not close to her mother, who would have been her first source of refuge to share with.

Does hormonal imbalance delay periods?

When she shared with her friends, they told her it was a hormonal imbalance, and she lived by that information.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Njoki said when she went to the hospital to inquire about her situation, she was given medicine to swallow with water.

"Nothing changed, and I had to seek a second opinion. I went to another hospital, where I was scanned. The doctor screamed upon seeing the results. He told me I had no ovaries, no uterus and my cervix was small," she narrated painfully.

Working as househelp in Murang'a

Her only hope, she tearfully said, was doing a corrective surgery abroad that would cost her KSh 250,000.

The young lady from Nyandarua, who works as a househelp in Murang'a county, said she feared marriage because she could not conceive.

"The only option is adoption. It is so hard to explain to someone my condition because it is difficult. Many, even women, fail to understand this rare condition that I battle with. I have lost friends after sharing my condition with them. Some ask if I did something when I was young that made me this way," she shared.

Battling fibroids for six years in Nairobi

Separately, a woman was relieved after recovering from fibroids she battled for six years.

Nancy Bahati Mole had battled uterine fibroids as she sought medical help to get rid of them.

The Nairobi woman feared being operated on and losing her uterus until she found a doctor who removed them without touching her uterus.

Bahati, who was mistaken for being pregnant, was delighted after the operation, which made her resume her everyday life.

"I missed out on jobs because people thought I was pregnant and misjudged me. But I am glad things are returning to normal," she said.
