Siaya Girl Who Scored 402 Marks In KCPE Appeals For Help To Join High School: "My Dad Is Disabled"

• After scoring 402 in the 2023 KCPE exams, Mitchele Awuor Okatch was happy to learn that she had been called to Lugulu Girls High School
• Her joy would soon get dimmed after her parents told her that they could not afford her fees for high school education

Mitchele Awuor Okatch and her family are worried because they are unable to raise secondary school fees despite her spectacular performance in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

Awuor called to Lugulu Girld High School

Awuor scored an impressive 402 marks out of the possible 500 total marks and was called to Lugulu Girls High School.

As it stands, the bright girl from Asembo Bay in Rarieda sub-county may lose her precious position in the school because of her financial predicament.

"My parents are not financially stable; my dad got an accident, which disabled him physically, and my mother is a housewife. They do not have an income to cater for me in secondary school," read a placard by Awuor.

"Iam appealing to all well-wishers to help me realise my dream of becoming a journalist," read another part.

Boy called to two national schools pleads for fees

In another story, Victor Obama, from Malava in Kakamega county was called to Friends School Kamusinga and Maranda High School after performing exemplarily in KCPE exams.

Obama got 412 marks in the 2023 KCPE exams and is set on becoming an academic giant.

While his dreams are valid, Obama said that he risked missing out on his place at the school of his choice because of the lack of fees.
