Are you planning to travel together with family or friends in a personal car this festive season? KSh 2,000 fuel can indeed take you somewhere.
This is according to a Kenyan travel consultant Davies Kinanga, who shared how far you can get with a litre of petrol based on drivers' habits, road terrain and conditions.
What is the current cost of fuel in Kenya?
Currently, a litre of super petrol retails at KSh 212.36 after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) revised pump prices down.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Kinanga advised Kenyans to cut most expenditures to ease pressure on the rising cost of living during this Christmas season.
"This festive season, due to the high cost of fuel and living, travel if necessary to cut on expenditure. It will help especially those with children reporting back to school in January," Kinanga urged travellers.
How long can a litre of petrol take you?
Kinanga broke down the cost of fuel from Nairobi to Mombasa, a 500-kilometre distance.
"I know fuel has been confusing now that you don't know how far KSh 2000 will take you this month. For those travelling from Nairobi. Those with vehicles doing 14km/litre (new KD... 1500cc) means KSh 211/15km," he posted on X platform.
Driving to Mombasa will therefore be 14.06x500km, which equates to about KSh 7,000 and KSh 8,000 while coming back.
An older vehicle with 1,800cc (KB...) would use KSh 211/km, meaning they are likely to consume KSh 10,500 from travelling the same distance.
"There may be a slight difference based on the driving habit, terrain and the road condition while calculating for other routes but not more than 10% difference," he added.
Travellers doing the Nairobi-Kisumu-Kakamega route could consume around KSh 5,000 to KSh 6,000 one way.
Travel on budget
In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported about a Kenyan lady who shared her travel experience from Nairobi, Kenya, to Zanzibar on a tour budget of KSh 38,000.
The lady shared her transport, accommodation and tour costs based on the budget, which amounted to KSh 21,025.
According to World Travel Consultant Mary Ndaranga, the lady stayed within her budget because she planned her trip earlier.
