Viral Akorino couple Peter Kimathi and Emily Nyaruai have announced that they have put down their religious turbans because they want to forget their past.

Peter and family want to forget past

In an interview with YouTuber Kioko, Peter said they embarrassed themselves when they lied that Emily was in a relationship with him and his twin brother Teddy.

"We just decided to make it a season of change, it affects our past and we wanted to forget what happened in the past. It was not easy; it was a very difficult decision because were born into the religion and grew with them" said Peter.

"Whenever we are walking on the road, people still associate us with what happened in the past," said Emily.

According to the pair, they never let their family know about their decision; they just removed the treasured clothes from their heads.

Akorino community sidelined us

The Akorino community has also contributed to the decision by the couple, who shared that they had been sidelined.

"People stopped talking to us and even my brother Teddy was sidelined in church. Nothing will happen to us; people who get mental health challenges after removing it were maybe cursed by their parents or something," said Peter.
"Even if you tie a long turban but you are not a good person you will not go to heaven. The turban will not take you to heaven even if you tie a very long one. My parents are also okay because some of my siblings don't also wear the turban," he added.

Emily shared that her mum was happy that she decided to remove the turban.
