Today’s Spangram

The Spangram for today’s NYT Strands puzzle is — HOMOPHONES.

Today’s Answers

If you have scrolled this far, you are probably ready to see the answers. Here are today’s Strands theme words:

  • GALE
  • MERRY
  • HAIRY
  • PEAT
  • FILL
  • WHINNY
  • ATOM
  • RUSTLE

Today’s puzzle was another oddball for me and required some hints to solve it. I quickly found the words MERRY and GALE at the top right. Then, I stumbled upon HAIRY at the bottom right and found myself stuck.

After staring at the grid for a good five minutes, I clicked the Hint button and discovered the word PEAT. This sparked my memory of the word “Homo” next to it. From there, I connected the letters and uncovered today’s Spangram — HOMOPHONES.

Finding the remaining words was straightforward once I had the Spangram. I identified FILL as an easy pick on the right and then connected ATOM, RUSTLE, and WHINNY (which took a few tries) to complete the puzzle.
