Kamusinga High Roars Back With Impressive Results, Sends 450 Students To University

• Kamusinga High School has produced 450 candidates with direct entries to the university in the released 2023 KCSE exam results
• Only 11 candidates scored a C, as the other 2 got a C-, registering a mean grade of B of 9.4 from a population of 463 students

Kamusinga High School has bounced back with exceptional results in the 2023 KCSE exams.

The results were released on Monday, January 8, by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret.

Out of the 463 candidates who sat the national examinations at the institution, 450 students attained grades of C+ and above, and only 13 candidates recorded scores below C (comprising 11 Cs and two C-s).

The performance breakdown includes 30 candidates achieving straight As, 89 securing A-, and 120 garnering B+, hence a mean grade of B with 9.4 points.

Additionally, 80 students earned a B grade, 87 achieved a B-, and 47 obtained a C+.

Mbita High produces 420 university entries

According to Millie Odhiambo, Member of Parliament for Mbita, 420 out of 424 candidates from Mbita High School achieved university grades, with only 4 scoring C or lower.

Breaking the news, the lawmaker disclosed in her post that 16 candidates scored straight As, 73 scored A-, 103 scored B+, 96 scored B, 94 managed B-, and 38 got C+.

How many students got university mean grade?

Announcing the results, CS Machogu revealed that 201,133 candidates scored C+ or above countrywide.

According to Machogu, the positive results were realised due to the new grading system that allowed students to do only two mandatory subjects: mathematics and any of the languages.

"The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification (grade C+ and above) was 201,133 (22.27%) in the 2023 KCSE examination compared to 173,345 (19.62%) in the year 2022. This is as a result of the application of a new grading system," he announced.
