The Kenyan man resides in Preston, a city conveniently located 35 minutes away from Manchester on a train, where he works, and 55 minutes from Liverpool, where he pursues his PhD.
His situation is unique, being on a 100% scholarship and working about 25 hours a week, while his wife is engaged in full-time employment in the UK.

He pays £850 (KSh 163k) per month for a 3-bedroom residence in what he describes as an okay neighbourhood and a council tax of £169 (KSh 32k) per month, although sometimes he gets a student discount.
