Kenyan Pilot Sends Aldrine Kibet Classy Boots From Qatar After Losing His 'Magical' Pair In Kisumu

Kisumu - Aldrine Kibet has new boots in his rack after losing his initial pair at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium on Tuesday, December 5.

The 17-year-old lamented having lost the wares at the technical bench area while joining his teammates in celebrating their CECAFA under-18 semi-final victory against Tanzania.

"The celebrations were great, but I lost my magical boots whoever picked them up at the technical bench to return I'll sort him," he said.

Well-wisher chips in for Aldrine Kibet

Rodney Salama, a Kenyan working as a pilot in Qatar, responded to Kibet's distress calls and elected to replace the lost pair for him.

The fast-rising playmaker's mother, Valerie Chebet, confided in TUKO.co.ke that Salama honoured his promise and Kibet was in receipt of the boots; she could not, however, confirm if her son would rock them on the pitch on the Kenya-Uganda duel.

"He lost his boots when the fans stormed into the field to celebrate with them. But the said pilot offered to buy him, and Kibet has already received the boots as we speak. He's likely to use them soon but I am not sure about that," she said.

Kenya on verge of lifting East African title

Meanwhile, the Kenyan Junior Stars team has had a magnificent run since the start of the tournament on November 25.

Kibet features among the scorers with three goals to his name.

The team routed Tanzania in the semi-final on December 5 after prevailing in the penalty shootout play that succeeded a barren draw in regular and extra times.

The 4-3 win propelled the team to the finals, pitting it against Uganda, who beat Rwanda 1-0.

Rwanda and Tanzania would on Friday, December 8, face off in a Bronze curtain raiser match ahead of the finals later on the day,

All attention would be on the team as it focuses on the regional title.
